About Our Area
We are very lucky at Cernach to be situated in the West End of Glasgow and a short drive from Balloch and Scotland’s National Park. Drumchapel, known to locals and residents as ‘The Drum’, borders Bearsden to the east (East Dunbartonshire) and Clydebank to the West (West Dumbartonshire) and is bordered by Knightswood and Yoker in Glasgow.
The area is well served by Public transport having bus and rail links to Glasgow and beyond. The local rail station is Drumchapel.
The current population of Drumchapel is estimated at 15,000 which is split into 6,000 households.
The major employer in the area is the Edrington Group Whisky Bond. Located to the southern end of Drumchapel sitting on Great Western Road is the Great Western Retail park with retailers which include Sainsbury’s, Pets at Home, B&M, Curry’s, and B & Q Warehouse and a range of eateries including Burger King, McDonalds, KFC, Starbucks, Greggs and the Leven Valley Carvery and pub.
Many notable people have lived in Drumchapel over the years, including Billy Connolly, the famous comedian and entertainer, and famous footballers including Andy Gray, and Danny McGrain.
Our Housing Stock
The Association’s Housing stock is located in the Kingsridge Cleddans area and Langfaulds area of Drumchapel.
Over half of the Association’s Housing stock is post war built in the 1950’s with the remainder new build stemming from 1992 to 2013. The housing stock is varied comprising of tenement flats, cottage flats, terraced and semi detached housing.
