Committee Members wanted

Are you interested in people and making a real difference to their lives?  Cernach Housing Association has vacancies on our Management Committee and would love to hear from you.

We are currently looking for new Members to join our voluntary Committee to strengthen and enhance the current group of experienced members and provide guidance and direction to our staff team of 19. We need people who will collaborate with others to provide insight and strategic direction - and make sure that we deliver on our mission statement:

Supporting a vibrant community by offering affordable, good quality homes and services with people at the heart of everything we do.

We welcome all interest at this time, but we would be particularly interested to hear from people who live within Cernach’s area of operation, or with skills, knowledge, or experience in:

  • Finance
  • Tenant Safety
  • Homelessness
  • Asset Management
  • Procurement
  • Community Engagement and Tenant Voice
  • Wider role or other third sector services

We want to attract people who have a positive attitude, who are passionate about fairness and interested in housing. We offer a comprehensive induction and training programme and will support all members to attend external conferences and events.

Our Management Committee meetings are held nine times per year, at 6pm on Thursday evenings. We operate a hybrid meeting format and are happy for members to attend digitally, although some in-person meetings would be preferred. We also have two sub-Committees, with one focussed on housing management and maintenance, as well as an assurance sub-Committee covering all things governance, health and safety and human resources. We also host an annual strategy day with staff and Committee members to review our progress and set our goals.

The positions on our Management Committee are voluntary but we pay reasonable out of pocket expenses including transport and childcare costs.

We are particularly interested in ensuring that our Management Committee is diverse and representative of the communities that we serve and so would welcome applications from those who have experienced homelessness or identify themselves as coming from traditionally underrepresented groups. We have a fully accessible office and would be happy to accommodate communication or access requirements.

Cernach Housing Association is a registered charity and have 877 properties for social rent, 16 sharing owners, as well as providing factoring services to 141 owners within the Drumchapel area of Glasgow.
