Scottish Housing Day Community Litter Pick

Cernach hosted a litter picking afternoon in Drumchapel to mark Scottish Housing Day. We were joined by a class of children from the local Langfaulds Primary School, as well as volunteers from Dakok Community Support Group – a group of Kurdish community volunteers working in Glasgow.

Senior Housing Officer, Gillian Robertson, said “It’s great to see so many faces in the community contribute to the area and making sure the streets are an attractive place to live.  Services are stretched very thin throughout the city and it feels a great achievement that the community in Drumchapel can consistently rally together to improve our homes.”

Staff, partners and residents worked together across the local area, collecting litter and helping to make shared spaces cleaner and more welcoming.  The afternoon also gave participants an opportunity to meet neighbours, build new connections and highlight the positive difference that can be made when local organisations and communities work side by side.

Cernach thanks everyone who gave their time and energy to support the litter pick.  We hopes the event will encourage even more people to get involved in future community activities and continue taking pride in Drumchapel.
